Defending our mental health: meeting for dialogue and empowerment
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, a workshop on “Defending our mental health: dialogue and empowerment meeting” was held on October 17 at ActionAid’s Center in Athens.
More than 20 people participated in the workshop, they discussed the concept of mental health, touching on issues both on an individual and social level. Stigma, stereotypes, myths and truths about mental health were at the center of the discussion, while participants shared their personal experiences and concerns. The presenters encouraged discussion and active participation, clarified terms and provided information about services that provide help and support.
Recognizing the significance of mental health not only for individuals but also for communities, trainers and trainees committed to repeating the action.
The action was implemented by ActionAid and specifically by the Social Service under the coordination of social workers Hara Kargiotakis and Andreas Dretta in collaboration with PEPSAEE mental health professionals.
The presenters and coordinators of the workshop were Mrs. Chrysanthi Katsioti, Social Worker at the Day Center and Mobile Unit of Western Attica and Mrs. Maria Deve, Psychologist-Scientific Manager of the Day Center “…in the center of the city” of PEPSAEE.
