Fostering citizenship through lifelong learning

On December 7, 2023, the VII Encontro de Educação de Adultos Prá Vida took place at the Centro Cultural de Vila, Nova de Tazem, Gouveia, bringing together educators, policymakers, and community leaders to discuss the role of adult education in fostering active citizenship.

The event featured an opening session with representatives from key institutions, followed by discussions on educational projects, including the Letras Prá Vida initiative. Participants explored innovative approaches to lifelong learning, emphasizing the importance of civic awareness and community cooperation.

A key highlight was the Competências Prá Vida Workshop, which introduced the Citizens Xelerator project, coordinated by Manuela Paulo (APCEP). This session focused on empowering individuals with the skills needed to drive social change and engage in democratic processes.

The day concluded with a networking session and informal discussions, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in adult education. The event showcased how education can be a powerful tool for citizenship, inspiring future initiatives in the field.
