Cleaning up our city: Cleaning action in the neighborhood park

After the completion of the discussions (Think Tank) around the creation of actions, the participants found the theme and the dates, time and materials we will need to set up our actions. They ended up cleaning their neighborhood park, with a shared belief that cleanliness is a key component of their social life, as it deprives them of the opportunity to utilize the parks for their recreational activities. In fact, they found that the Municipality provides a service, but it may not be sufficient, so they offered to discuss with the relevant employees, so that they voluntarily take action on days and points that are more demanding.

During this action, participants were able to gather in the park to clean up the environment, remove trash and take care of nature. In this way, the students of the Greek department shared their experiences and knowledge about nature and environmental protection, while they had the opportunity to exchange ideas on how to keep the park clean and carefully maintained in the future. At the end of the action and with the help of the cleaning staff of the Municipality, the need for continuous cleaning and care of the park was discussed, as well as for programs that will strengthen the awareness and active participation of citizens in the preservation of the environment. In addition to the successful implementation of the action, the participants declared that they enjoyed the process itself, while they continued to clean the public space even after leaving the park.

Finally, they mentioned that, while they initially hesitated to participate because they did not have enough time and organized it during their lessons, at the end they noticed that the whole organization and recording of their plan, helped them a lot to evolve the use of the Greek language.
