Empowering civic engagement: CX`s contributions presented at the ESREA conference

The ESREA Active Democratic Citizenship and Adult Learning (ADCAL) Research Network Conference, held from October 24-26, 2024, at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal, gathered educators, researchers, and activists to delve into the transformative power of education for civic and democratic participation.

The conference theme, “Thinking against the Grain: Critical Pedagogy, Popular Education, and Revolution,” sparked rich discussions on the role of education in fostering active democratic engagement and social change.

The Citizens Xelerator project was presented at the conference, highlighting its significant contributions to civic and democratic participation. The project’s impact will be further explored in the conference proceedings, with a paper titled Contributions to Civic and Democratic Participation from the Training Experiences of Adult Educators Developed in the Citizens Xelerator Project”, prepared by project partner APCEP.

This paper provides an in-depth look at the innovative training methodologies and the positive outcomes achieved through the project, underscoring the vital role adult education plays in fostering active citizenship and democratic engagement.
